Jadeite, or jadite, glass was immensely popular in America in the 1930s. It was first created to add a bit of colour and cheer to people\’s home after the First World War. Today, the pale green milk glass is a favourite with collectors all over the world.
Mosser Glass are a family owned and run company from Ohio. They\’ve been hand-pressing high-quality glassware since 1971. Their collection evokes a vintage feel with coloured milk glass and intricate moulded designs. Sturdy enough to see service every day, Mosser Glass pieces are designed to be used and loved for generations.
The coloured glass is made by mixing pigments with soda ash and silica sand. Once melted, the molten glass is hand-poured into cast iron moulds. When released from the moulds, air is blown over the new piece of glassware to help it cool. Then the glass is quickly rotated while it\’s sanded, polished and fired to give a glossy finish all over. This manufacturing process can cause \’stripes\’ in the pigmentation of the glass, and makes every piece of Mosser Glass unique.
Care instructions
Clean your Mosser Glass pitcher with mild detergent and a non-abrasive sponge. If cleaning in the dishwasher, make sure the jug will not rattle against other items. Avoid strong shocks of any kind – thermal or physical – as these can cause weak points in the glass.
