Description
Use the Blue Wave tonsui bowl to serve tentsuyu, a traditional dipping sauce for Japanese tempura. Made with mirin, soy sauce and dashi, tentsuyu has a light, sweet-salty flavour that pairs beautifully with prawns, vegetables and squid in crispy tempura batter. Larger than your average dipping sauce dish, tonsui bowls are perfect for dipping larger fried items.
Tonsui bowls are also used when serving nabe, a type of Japanese hot pot where ingredients are cooked at the table in hot dashi broth. Once the ingredients are cooked, diners scoop them from the pot and place them in their tonsui bowl. The bowl can also be used to serve side dishes like salads, pickles and steamed rice.
The tonsui bowl is decorated with a textured white and blue glaze in a stylised wave pattern. The bowl is finished with a glossy brown-black detail at the lip.
